A beautiful, spacious stately home set within the traditional 60-hectare wine-producing Morgado do Quintão vineyard estate, set between Lagoa and Silves, in the heart of the Algarve. This tasteful barn conversion boasts a large open-plan living room overlooking a sprawling lawn with a private pool and a grand thousand-year-old Olive Tree. The house has four en-suite bedrooms, a large kitchen and its traditional high ceilings make the house feel light and airy. Three of the bedrooms have twin beds while the fourth has two sets of bunk-beds; the living room has a sofa bed which can sleep two, bring the total capacity of the house to a total of 12 guests.
The setting is very peaceful, surrounded by nature and with delightful views of the estate vineyards and Monchique mountains, yet conveniently close to Lagoa and Silves for shops and amenities and a short drive from the A22 highway and the N125 road that cross the Algarve. Some of the world's most acclaimed beaches, such as Praia da Marinha and Praia de Albandeira are also a short 20 min drive away as are many of the regions' Michelin starred restaurants.
The rural estate has four private properties, each with its own swimming pool, which are rented independently but can be used to host a larger group. One is fairly close to the Main House but the houses face in completely different directions, a third is about 200m away and the fourth circa 700m away. The estate has been producing wine since 2017, when it launched its Palhete and Clarete wines - both very traditional types of wine in the region over 200 years ago. Apart from its rolling vineyards, the estate has a fig tree grove, cork trees, almond and olive trees abound, and a number of other fruit trees and tea bushes mean there is always something flourishing each season. As you drive up the estate's main track you'll see rabbits and hares leap out of your way as eagles and bird soar overhead. If you're lucky at night'time you may even catch a glimpse of the white-faced owl that nests in the estate. You'll likely also be greeted by our friendly dog, Amendoa, whom freely roams the grounds (but is not allowed inside the houses) - though if you're not a fan of dogs, do let us know in advance and we'll make sure she doesn't come your way.
The stately grounds make a perfect setting for special events - do get in touch if you're interested in hosting a feast, a celebration, a workshop or a retreat! We are happy to help you organise events or to recommend others who can help. At Morgado do Quintão we also organise our own seasonal workshops that focus on the areas of Health & Wellness and Arts & Culture, with a particular emphasis on all things "authentic Algarve". We also organise wine-tastings with a tour of the estate vineyards with the option to enjoy a traditional Algarvian lunch.
